Wildside Art.....for really wild art

Award Winning Artist Deborah Boyet
"I long to share the beauty I find in our world. The delicate details in the big picture....subtle and rich colors, striking poses, color reflected on water, backlit flowers, late afternoon sun bathing the world in a soft glow. These are both soothing sights and yet they make me want to hold my breath, and hang onto the moment forever. Viewing animals in their natural environment feels magical to me. I can loose a day wondering in just a small area. Chilhood habits die hard!"
"We need to be aware of the impact we have on the earth and it's creatures. So much is at stake! How sad to think that my grandchildren may never have the opportunity to see a gorilla in Africa, or a polar bear with her young playing on the ice. We need to preserve what is not ours to destroy and share the joy with future generations." Please visit the Wildlife page for details on possbile conservation art donations. I am willing to help worthy causes.
I am so excited to announce my new Gallery/Studio is almost completed. The colors are so soothing, lots of light, heated tile floors and even a doggy door for my girls! I will be posting pictures on my blog, so check often and see the progress. It was stressful to be without a real place to paint for almost 6 months, but in the end it will be worth it. Look for lots of new work coming soon!
Artist Deborah Boyet is a long time resident of South Carolina. She attended Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, majoring in Fin Art and then returned to SC to study under Tom Moore, a well known Southeastern portrait artist. She continues to expand her body of knowledge and challenge her skills with workshops and daily painting. She has studied with internationally acclaimed still life and portrait artist DAVID LEFFEL and the widely recognized wildlife artist JOHN SEERY LESTER. She has also studied under other international instructors including Sterling Edwards, Dominic Vignola, Lynda English and worked closely with International award winner Jackie Wukela. "It was great fun studying with Jackie....our styles are so different. It alwasy gave me a fresh perspective and new challenges. She became more than just a mentor, she was and is a great friend. Jackie did more for me than anyone in helping me find my wings!"
A diversified body of artwork includes most subject matter and a variety of mediums. She has recently returned to her first love Oils and Wildlife. "Wildlife and animals have played such an important role in my life. I love the world around me, and feel that mankind has taken this beauty for granted. If I can touch just one person with my art, and inspire them to help preserve our world and it's creatures, I feel blessed. Art has always been an important element in my life. My work is based on places I have been and photographed. People in the rush of everyday life often miss seeing what I see. I try to capture the feeling of that moment in time."
Much of her artwork has been portraiture and wildlife close-ups. "The eyes are windows to the soul. They portray feelings, needs, and desires. Even animals reveal so much about what they are thinking at that captured moment."
She is available for workshops teaching Watercolor Batiks on rice paper and Translucent Watercolor Techniques. I love the translucent, glowing colors that are achieved with this technique. Her goal in teaching is to show students how to achieve the technical aspect of watercolor on rice paper, and inspire them to find a style that expresses something about themselves. "Often this is an evolving process. As an artist, you should find ways to continue evolving and challenging yourself. What I try to achieve is a stress free class. I give lots of handouts, and visual step by step so all types of students can learn from my method. One on one is also important, and I strive to give positive, meaningful ways to improve your art. Having fun while you learn is also part of the process....we already have enough stress in our lives, why stress about art too?"
One day to one week workshops are available for 2010 and 2011. Wildlife Oil painting workshops are available and more info on this specialty class will be posted soon. This workshop will be especially focused on the details of the animal and will be a 3 day class offered this winter. The South is a great place to escape the winter snow!
I would like to especially thank Angel Benenhaley for shooting my personal photos for the website. She has a real talent for capturing the spirit of a person and I highly recommend her. She does an amazing job with children and senior high school pictures. Contact me if you are interested in her info.
